We have a number of basic styles available to choose from. Which can be altered with regard to specific features i.e. finials, shape of back plate, size etc. Please visit us and discuss the style required to build a grate most suitable for your fireplace and room.
Grates can be supplied in bare metal, often chosen for the gothic type of look or sand blasted and treated with 800 degree satin black spray paint. All are supplied with ash pans.
Grates similar to those illustrated below are available to be viewed at the Smithy.

A common problem with all fire grates is that after a period of time they will burn through, in many cases this renders the grate unrepairable unless a specific casting can be located. I incorporate two important features which reduce this problem. Firstly the bottom grill is removable and a replacement can easily be provided. Secondly it is always the lower half of the backplate which burns through first.
These grates are supplied with a back plate made of two sections, thus allowing the upper part to be kept and the lower part easily removed and quickly replaced. (Due to the design, this feature can not be effected on the basket style. However, any damaged bars can be replaced).
